GGR programme launches lunchtime webinar series

The GGR programme is launching a series of lunchtime webinars, starting on Wednesday 24 February 2021 at 1.00 pm. Each webinar will focus on one of the programme’s science components.

Since the programme’s inception in 2017, its constituent projects have been researching a range of areas with the aim of advancing knowledge around GGR. These include subjects relating to technological efficiency, environmental impacts, cost-effectiveness, governance, geo-political equity, social impacts, financing and public acceptability.

Co-supported by NERC, EPSRC, ESRC and BEIS, the GGR programme is truly interdisciplinary and its strategic purpose is to advance scientific understanding in order to provide information and evidence relevant to UK climate policy needs and more widely.

The coordinated research projects have yielded a number of publications and important insights for policy makers and, as the four year programme enters its final year, the projects will be building on their existing policy engagement  to disseminate their findings.

Science Co-ordinator for the UK GGR Programme Phil Renforth said: “This webinar series is a platform for the researchers within the UK GGR programme to present results of their projects and provide some much-needed insight into this complex and multifaceted area. By bringing together the different components covered by the UK GGR programme in this webinar series we hope to build an important body of scientific evidence and perspective to inform policy decisions on GGR at both a UK and international level.”
